Every evening, Kweku Anansi’s village came alive with drums, flutes, clapping hands, and singing voices. Everyone seemed to feel the rhythm except Kweku, who only scratched his head and wondered why music mattered so much.

“What is hidden inside a song?” Kweku asked himself. He watched the dancers turn in the firelight and decided he would discover the secret before anyone else could explain it.

The next morning, Kweku invited the whole village to a grand feast at his house. “Come tomorrow evening,” he said proudly. “I will show you the music of the world.”

All day, Kweku prepared food. He stirred stew, stacked plantains, rinsed calabashes, and set a large clay pot in the middle of the room. Then he placed the lid on top.

When the villagers arrived, the air filled with delicious smells. Children whispered, elders smiled, and musicians rested their drums and flutes beside the doorway, waiting for Kweku’s surprise.

Kweku stood beside the sealed pot and lifted his chin. “Inside this pot,” he announced, “I have captured all the music in the world. When I open it, you will finally hear its secret.”

The room grew quiet. Kweku lifted the lid and leaned close. The villagers leaned close too. But from the pot came nothing at all.

Kweku shook the pot gently. He peered inside. He even turned it upside down over a woven mat. Still, there was only silence, and Kweku’s proud smile slowly disappeared.

An elder named Nana Ama stepped forward with kind eyes. “Kweku,” she said, “music cannot be trapped in a pot. It lives when people share it.”

She tapped her walking stick on the floor. A child clapped along. Someone hummed. Soon the room filled with rhythm again, not from the pot, but from hands, feet, breath, and hearts.

Kweku listened carefully. He heard laughter, leaves rustling outside, stew bubbling near the fire, and the soft beat of his own feet. At last he began to understand.

From that day, Kweku still loved clever ideas, but he no longer tried to own every secret. When the village made music, he joined in, because some wonders grow only when they are shared.
